THE PALMS
PALM DESERT, CA
ABOUT THE PROJECT
It would not be an exaggeration to call the 80,000-square-foot compound along El Camino in
Palm Desert one of the Coachella Valley’s most unique properties. A look down the boarded-up rows of arched doorways conjures questions of what the facility was and why such a large, centrally-located property has apparently been left decaying.
The site has been closed since late 2018 after a facility-wide electrical fire destroyed
appliances and rendered the compound unlivable. Since then, it has entered a state of disrepair and has been the subject of repeated vandalism, generating complaints to the city.
The homeowners association hopes to have the new and improved International Lodge (to become The Palms on El Camino) open again early this fall, assuming there are no additional unanticipated renovations required or permitting delays.
